Gamlingay Goes Green

Hello, I'm Gamlingay's 'Carbon Tsar'. I have volunteered for the position of the carbon champion for Gamlingay. Carbon champions have been prompted by local government in response to concerns about global warming and climate change. The idea behind carbon champions is that we provide a source of information and advice that will help people in our area of responsibility save money and reduce their emissions of carbon dioxide or CO2 which, as we all know, or should know, is a threat to our planet's future climate in its present form.

My plans are to publish a regular page in the Gamlingay Gazette, establish this website and to act as a source of advice, guidance and information to anyone in the village on these matters.

I am not in any way under the editorial control of the councils, parish or district, and I will follow a simple objective, the reduction of CO2 emissions from Gamlingay.

The people of South Cambridgeshire release roughly 10 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere per person per year. This is atrocious, the level of emissions for sustainability is about 2 tons per person per year. We have a long way to go but on the way we can all save money too. The latest report is below, and beneath that is a list of all previous reports. Click on a heading to read more.
